Rolf Urbanus is an associate professor of thrombosis and hemostasis at the University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands. He received his doctorate in Medicine at Utrecht University. Dr. Urbanus has authored or coauthored more than 100 scientific publications on thrombosis and inherited bleeding disorders. He is best known for his work on the auto-immune disorder antiphospholipid syndrome and has served as a co-chair on the scientific standardization committee (SSC) on antiphospholipid antibodies of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH). He is currently a member of the editorial board of Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, a reviewer for numerous journals and serves in the scientific advisory board of the Netherlands Thrombosis Foundation. Dr. Urbanus provides training on thrombosis and hemostasis to graduate and undergraduate students and teaches courses on laboratory diagnostics of hemostasis to laboratory professionals for the ECAT foundation.
